With cross-shaped gilt-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, the dial with small Arabic hour ring on an hexagonal blue, white and creme painted miniature neoclassical scene signed Paillet, the snap on back with a similar scene and diamond-set rim, the hexagonal case with diamond-set bezel and pendant, diamond-set band, the crown set with a larger pearl, miniature signed Paillet, case and movement unsigned

Lot Essay

Fernand Paillet (1850-1918) was a renowned enamelist, mastering the fine art of painted enamel miniatures. He was the miniature painter of the house of Boucheron but also often worked for Verger Frères and used classical motives to decorate jewelry and watches. Examples of his work are owned by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
