Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the movement of the present watch with gilded, blue enamel and lapis dial with engine-turned center in 1890 and its subsequent sale without case on 24 September 1891.
A watch with such a highly unusual design was undoubtedly made, together with the ring, by special order for a customer of Marcus & Co. and is most certainly a unique piece.
Marcus & Co. were renowned jewelers and retailers of Patek Philippe watches in New York, founded towards the end of the 19th century. In 1962, the company merged with Black, Starr & Frost, also one of Patek Philippe's retailer in the US.
