Finely painted with a three-quarter of the emperor facing left, wearing the jacket of a general with gilt epaulets, medals and orders pinned to his chest, signed along the right edge, the reverse inscribed in ink 'Henry Austin Whitney from William W. Tucker Oct. 1860 Brot (sic) by him from Paris HAW By Liénard An 4 Sèvres Artist
5½ inches (14 cm.) high, within ebonized and gilt wood frame
