The Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe revolutionised astronomy at the end of the 16th Century developing an important understanding of the relationship between the sun and the planets that improved Copernicus heliocentric theory. He achieved this by increasing the accuracy of his observations, which he did by improving his scientific instruments to make them capable of unprecedented levels of accuracy. The present lot is based on the print of Tycho Brahe from the title page of his Mechanica.
