Each of baluster form with two scroll handles, decorated in the Japonisme aesthetic with a bird in flight before flowering plants and prunus branches, below overlapping asymmetrical mons painted with prunus flower, butterflies and oriental fans tied with ribbon below a stylised stiff-leaf and strap-work border, on four splayed feet enriched in cobalt-blue and raised gilt lines
