The ivory field with diagonal rows of ebelinde motifs in various colours forming chevrons within an irregular black border each side containing hooked motifs, black border each end of hooked motifs, ivory skirt of serrated motifs and striped outer band at each end, woven in two parts, slight repair

拍品專文

The main motif on this kilim is the ebelinde design. This was one of the main designs discussed by James Mellaart in his controversial publication (J.Mellaart, U. Hirsch and B. Balpinar: The Goddess from Anatolia, Milan, 1989). This book demonstrated links between kilim designs and some of the most archaic symbols for deities in pre-historical Turkey found in archaeological sites, notably atal Hüyük.
