Lot Essay

A sayagaki by Kunzan made at the request of Mr Aoyama attributes this cut-down blade to Yoshimitsu. There were 1st and 2nd generations of Yoshimitsu (Gimitsu) of Bizen working during the Nambokucho Period. The first is said to have been the second son of Kagemitsu, and thus brother of Kanemitsu, and the 2nd generation son of Kanemitsu.
