Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, mitsumune, wide mihaba, o-kissaki

Kitae [forging pattern]: koitame with jinie

Hamon [tempering pattern]: gunome-midare with choji of nie with ashi, wide habuchi, tobiyaki, midare utsuri

Boshi [tip]: midare

Horimono [carvings]: bohi on both sides

Nakago [tang]: o-suriage, two holes

In shirasaya [plain wood scabbard]: with sayagaki by Honma Kunzan Showa 29 (1954), requested by Mr. Aoyama

Nagasa [length from tip to beginning of tang]: 67.2cm.

Sori [curvature]: 1.7cm.

Motohaba [width at start of tempered edge]: 3.3cm.

Sakihaba [width before tip]: 2.9cm.

拍品专文

The registration document attributes the blade to Chogi and a note identifies the owner as Mr Kajima in 1951. Chogi is said to have been the son or brother of Nagashige (Choju), and a fellow pupil of Masamune. A sayagaki by Kunzan dated 1954 also attributes the blade to Chogi.
