Kitae [forging pattern]: very close itame, masame on shinogi-ji
Hamon [tempering pattern]: o-gunome midare of nie, sunagashi, jifu
Boshi [tip]: kaen on omote, ichimai on ura, long muneyaki
Nakago [tang]: ubu, one hole, o-sujikai, iriyamagata
Habaki [collar]: single, silvered copper

Lot Essay
Sukenao married the sister of Tsuta Sukehiro of Osaka in 1682, and died in 1693 aged just fifty five. He followed closely the style of Sukehiro, particularly with versions of the toramba [billowing] hamon.
