Signed Hizen kuni Tadayoshi, Edo period (Early 19th century)
Blade honzukuri, iorimune, toriizori, chu-kissaki, forging pattern konuka with jinie, tempered edge chu-suguha of nie, ko-maru boshi, tang ubu of narrow kurijiri, file marks kiri, one hole, the signature on ura, nagasa 68cm., gold nashiji itomaki tachi koshirae comprising a gold nashiji lacquer saya with kiku and kiri crests in gold hiramaki-e, tsuka covered in silk brocade wrapped in pale brown woven silk tapes forming a lozenge pattern, the metal fittings all shakudo nanako worked in relief gilding with the same crests, the tsuba similarly decorated, of typical tachi-mokko form and with a gold rim, the hanging tapes of beige leather, late 19th - early 20th Century, overall length 100cm.
