A good Iro-Iro Odoshi Tachi Do Gusoku [armour]
Edo Period (18th Century)
A black lacquered seventy-two plate suji bachi kabuto [helmet with standing flanges], helmet lining not disturbed, fitted with a five lame hineno jikoro [neck guard], a mayedate of a gold lacquered lotus flower from which emerges a gold lacquered circle enclosing a black lacquered bonji [a debased Sanskrit character], possibly Asuku, black lacquered mask with an elongated nose, chu sode [medium sized shoulder guards], shino gote [sleeves], the do of ni mai tachi style [of two pieces shaped at the waist], kawara haidate [thigh guards] and shino suneate [shin guards], fur boots, the shikoro, yodarekake, sode and do of gold lacquered iron kiritsuke kozane [false lamellae], kusazuri and haidate of leather, all laced in bands of white, green and red kebiki odoshi [close lacing], two mon of a crane and a butterfly, repeated in several places on the armour, are of a branch of the Ikeda family, with gusoku bitsu [armour box]
