A WELL-PRESENTED AND DETAILED 1:50 SCALE STATIC DISPLAY MODEL OF THE MISSISSIPPI STERN-WHEELER MATTHEW V. SPRESS (1870)
modelled by J. Saurin in walnut, mahogany, maple and other woods and arranged over four decks with details including wheelhouse with carved eight-spoke helm and binnacle, stove pipes, weather vane, name boards, companionways, stayed funnels with bracing, ballustrading, glazed saloons windows with shutters, masts, rigging, derricks, gangplanks and stern paddle wheel. The planked and framed hull with planked decks is finished in acrylic white paint and matt varnish and secured to a wooden plinth stand. Overall measurements -- 27½ x 44in. (70 x 112cm.)
