AN EARLY 19TH-CENTURY NAPOLEONIC FRENCH PRISONER-OF-WAR BONE SHIP MODEL OF A 120-GUN FIRST RATE SHIP-OF-THE-LINE
with details including bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging, polychrome warrior-form figurehead, catheads with metal anchors with bone stocks, main and belaying rails, water barrels, gratings, ballustraded well deck, companionways, deckhouse, ten brass guns in stepped carriages, pinnace in stern davits and other details. The hull, carved from the solid, with painted main wale, red-painted gun port with lids, carved stern and quarter galleries and rudder, is mounted on a straw work base within a contemporary straw work case with mirror, 'curtains', drop front and brass handle to top and turned feet, (overall wear, some losses, model on temporary supports to base). Model measurements -- 7 x 8in. (18 x 20cm.); Case measurements -- 9 x 10½ x 4in. (23 x 27 x 10cm.)
