Lot Essay

The decoration comprising polychrome on the exterior and only underglaze-blue on the interior is very rare. A cup with iron-red, yellow and green enamelled dragons around the exterior and predominantly underglaze-blue in the interior is illustrated in Sekai Toji Zenshu, Japan, 1976, vol.14, p. 201, colour plates 200 and 201.
