A PAIR OF RARE GILT-DECORATED BLUE-GROUND MALLET-SHAPED BOTTLE VASES
IRON-RED JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
Each supported on a circular foot rim and with a waisted cylindrical neck surmounted by a bulbous mouth, enamelled around the body and neck throughout with a formal design of eight lotuses, their stamens bearing stylised shou characters or wan symbols, borne on densely packed scrolling leafy branches involving tasselled pendants suspended from the mouths of bats, divided by a band of ruyi-capped lappets around the shoulders, and between dotted ruyi around the base and trefoils around the mouth-rim, the interiors and bases enamelled turquoise
