John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946) is best known for his 1936 work The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money. A member of the Bloomsbury Group, Keynes was a frequent guest at Charleston, and later bought Tilton House, which was within walking distance. In 1925 he married the Russian ballerina Lydia Lopokova. The present work depicts Keynes wearing a pink crochet skull cap, from the Omega Workshops, drafting a telegram.
