In 1946 Anne Redpath visited Skye with her friend Katie Horsman, a fellow artist, her son David and his girlfriend Eileen. They rented a cottage on the island and stayed for four weeks. While the others enjoyed the holiday, Redpath worked steadily, producing many watercolours, including the present view of Loch Snizort. (see P. Bourne, Redpath 1985-1965 Her Life and Work, Edinburgh, 1989, p. 37).
