Made from a single piece, blackened and rough from the hammer, of slightly flattened form with bottom flange split centrally and low central ridge terminating in a blunt point, the edges with plain turns throughout, and retaining iron buckles for the shoulder-straps and washered rivets for the waist-belt (missing)
