AN 18-BORE FRENCH D.B. FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN

With two-stage barrels octagonal at the breech (left touch-hole enlarged) incised with foliage and martial trophies, retaining faint traces of gilding and inscribed 'Canon Tordu' on the rib, later fore-sight within a sunburst, engraved grooved tang, signed rounded border engraved locks each with a martial trophy on the tail (cocks associated), moulded walnut half-stock (minor defects and repairs) carved in relief with floral displays at the tang and rear ramrod-pipe, leather-covered cheek-piece, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guard with urn finial, and later iron ramrod (iron parts with scattered pitting)
