A 15-BORE FRENCH FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL
By François-Claude Bletterie, Paris, circa 1750
Re-converted from percussion, with tapering barrel chiselled at the breech with acanthus foliage on a gilt fish-roe ground and struck with two marks, the muzzle with applied stepped silver ring, engraved tang, signed flat bevelled lock cut with foliage and rocailles in low relief against a gilt ground, lightly carve walnut full stock (repaired, fore-end partly replaced), iron mounts cut with foliage and martial trophies against a gilt ground, pierced silver escutcheon with coronet above, spurred pommel with silver cap, and later ramrod (in worn and pitted condition, trigger-guard repaired)
