With pedimented gallery carved with foliage and raised rectangular platforms to each side, above two concave-moulded frieze drawers flanked on each side by a conforming simulated drawer, above a pair of doors with paired reeded volutes with paw feet, the left enclosing a drawer and two sliding trays, the right enclosing a cellaret drawer, each on a plinth base, with stencilled mark 'FROM THOS MASH / Upholsterer & ... 102 and 105 Wardour Street SOHO', with paper storage label inscribed in pencil 'Mrs H. S. Osment'

Lot Essay

Thomas Mash of 102 Wardour Street, Soho, London was an upholsterer and furniture-broker recorded between 1829 and 1839. His stamp is also found on a secretaire-bookcase and a Regency mahogany breakfast-table both sold at Christie's, London, 27 November 1969, lot 145 and 7 April 1983, lot 73 respectively (The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, Leeds, 1986, pp. 582-583).
