Lot Essay

The artist was a landscape painter who lived in Hampstead and was strongly influenced by the work of John Constable. He exhibited at the British Institution, the Royal Academy and the Society of British Artists throughout his career. He travelled extensively around England and Wales, and also on the Continent with Richard Parkes Bonington.
