A LARGE MEZCALA STONE SEATED FIGURE, TYPE M-22
Late Preclassic, ca. 300-100 B.C.
In a highly unusual pose with thin legs crossed and feet tucked below, the angular arms jutting forward with hands resting on shoulders as if embracing an object, possibly a drum, the large, tapering head with pronounced facial features; in dark green serpentine stone.
