Lot Essay

N.C. Wyeth's The Angelus was executed in 1911 for The Popular Magazine, as the cover illustration for the November issue. This publication was, along with Progressive Farmer and Country Gentleman, one of several periodicals for which Wyeth depicted scenes of rural life.
