Lot Essay

The first issue of Blad voor kunst was published in October 1921. The initiative was taken by Johan Dijkstra who felt the need for a platform to convey and discuss current artistic points of view. De Ploeg members took part in the dispute but the group was not explicitely mentioned as initiator of the magazine.
Only six issues were published over the following months. The emphasis on Dutch Expressionism in the visual contributions determines the importance of this volume of art magazines.
