PORT
Fonseca--Vintage 1970
One with a missing label
Four recent notes. Still a thick red color, just starting to show it's age on the rim. Closed nose at first, then warm figs and ripe dark currant. Classic rustic Fonseca on the palate. Packed with ripe chewy figs, prune and raisins. Long warm rich finish. Tasted next to Taylor 1970 twice, last time the Taylor was better, but this time Fonseca had the edge. Either way it confirms what a great year 1970 is for Vintage port. Last tasted April 2001 DW
