Lot Essay

Arje Griegst, the world famous Danish goldsmith, silversmith and designer, is known for his exquisite style and originality. In 1976 he designed the Golden Poppies Headpiece with climbing flowers and drops of moonstones, diamonds, pearls and opals for Queen Margrethe of Denmark. He has also designed the Conch service for Royal Copenhagen Porcelain as well as the gilded Coral Water Fountain in Tivoli Garden. Hosting an exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in 1971, The Mermaid Pendant was one of the star exhibits.
