Lot Essay

Schlumberger created the original design for lot 592 in the 1960s to hold the 128.54 carat Tiffany diamond. Called 'Bird on a Rock', the diamond bird holding the cushion-shaped yellow diamond is still exhibited at Tiffany's Fifth Avenue store in New York and is also featured on the front cover of John Loring's book, Tiffany's 20th Century, A Portrait of American Style.
