PICO DELLA MIRANDOLA, Giovanni (1470-1553). Le sette sposizioni ... intitolate Heptaplo. Translated from Latin into Italian by Antonio Buonagrazia. Pescia: Lorenzo Torrentino, 1555. 4° (222 x 148mm). Woodcut architectural title border incorporating the Medici arms, woodcut of a book on title verso, historiated initials. (A little staining in first quire, one corner repaired.) Italian 18th-century vellum-backed patterned boards, title lettered on spine, green edges. Provenance: Halsted B. Vander Poel. FIRST EDITION IN ITALIAN of Pico's main doctrinal work, a commentary on Genesis. First published in Latin in 1489 it contains a discussion of a tripartite hierarchical division of the world and man's place outside it as a connective link.
