The present bronze is after a model by Bozoit, originally prepared for reproduction in biscuit de Sèvres, and exhibited in the Salon of 1786. This and Bozoits companion group Boreas carrying off Orithyia are variations of the same subjects treated earlier by Gaspard Marsy and Francois Girardon. The Wallace collection holds a contemporary version in bronze of this group by Bozoit.
