Lot Essay

kearney, carver, gilder and looking glass maker to His Majesty, was manufacturing at 49 Henry Street between 1804 and 1819.

Zachariah Williams and William Gibton traded in partnership after the death of John Mack in 1829, until Gibton's death in 1842.

The conflicting dates of manufacture implied by the labels, and the minor differences in size and detail suggest that one of these cheval mirrors was made to match an existing example.
