2° (296 x 204mm). Woodcut Aldine dolphin-and-anchor device on title, woodcut ornamental initials. With final blank. (Light paperflaw in one leaf, a few sheets lightly dampstained.) French 17th-century red morocco gilt, green and red sprinkled edges (very lightly rubbed at extremities). Provenance: JEAN-BAPTISTE COLBERT (1619-1683; title inscription) -- The Reverend Henry Drury of Harrow (1778-1841; collation note on flyleaf dated 1818) -- Powis (flyleaf inscription) -- Harrison D. FIRST AND ONLY COMPLETE EDITION of the oldest and perhaps most important byzantine work on Aristotle. A commentary on Aristotle's Physics written by the Neoplatonist Michael Psellus, it was a building block for the study of Aristotle as natural philosopher. cf. L.
