Lot Essay

By 1850, Jennens and Bettridge were England's foremost exponents of papier mâché. At London's Great Exhibition of 1851 in the Crystal Palace, papier mâché was hailed as an important material and Jennens and Bettridge exhibited a wide range of artefacts.
