Geneva, circa 1800, maker's mark '[?] & D', the enamel by Jean-Louis Richter (1766-1841), signed 'Richter' (lower right)
Rectangular box with rounded corners, the cover enamelled en plein with a view of a rustic riverside landscape with a mother seated on a swing and four playful children with dog in the left-hand foreground, a countryside house with a mill in the background, within blue, white and black opaque enamel and foliate wavescroll gold taille d'épargne borders, the base identically framed and engraved with a rectangular guilloché diaper ground enclosing pellets enamelled in translucent blue, the four rectangular side panels with concave ends identically enamelled and framed by white enamel bands, the corners enamelled in blue, white and black, engraved with palmettes in gold taille d'épargne
