Lot Essay

Mrs Arabella Walker Heneage, only daughter of Sir Jonathan Cope, Bt. of Brewerne, Co. Oxon and of Lady Arabella Howard (d. 1746), eldest daughter of Henry, 4th Earl of Carlisle, married John Walker (d. 1806) of Compton-Bassett. He took the additional surname Heneage in 1777 and on his death devised Compton Cumberwell Manor to his wife, on whose death it passed to his grandnephew George Wyld (from 1818 George Walker Heneage, d. 1875).
