Lot Essay

Frederick William III, eldest son of King Frederick William II (see lot 86) and Frederica of Hesse-Darmstadt married Luise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1776-1810), the famous Königin Luise, in 1793 and secondly Augusta of Harrach, Princess of Liegnitz (1800-1873) in 1824. A miniature of his daughter Charlotte, future Tsarina, also by Seyffert, was sold in these rooms on 24 May 2000, lot 280.
