Lot Essay

Frederika Dorothea Wilhelmina of Baden, daughter of Charles Louis of Baden and Amalia of Hesse-Darmstadt, married King Gustav IV Adolf of Sweden in 1797. She was deposed from the throne together with her husband in 1809 and they went to live in Baden but her husband did not want to stay and they were divorced in 1812.
