The hitherto unpublished present and following lots are part of a series of five large miniatures by Lequeutre in impressive ormolu frames by Alphonse Giroux depicting the French Royal family during their exile in Frohsdorf Castle, Austria. The miniature of Comte de Chambord's mother, the Duchesse de Berry, was in the Brewster collection, New York, sold Sotheby's, Geneva, 15 November 1995, lot 339. The miniatures depicting Comte de Chambord's uncle, the Duc d'Angoulême and his wife Madame Royale, are still kept in the family and were illustrated in G. Englebert, 'Frohsdorf ou les souvenirs du Comte de Chambord, L'Eventail, no. 18, December 1988, pp. 54-55. For further information, see B.
