Emerald green in color, free-blown, with a slightly tapering cylindrical body, the rim folded out and up into a deep flange, the base folded out, with a thin trail of opaque white applied below the rim and wound spirally around the body, and a single vertical strap handle

The name modiolus refers to a drinking vessel designed roughly in the form of a modius, or grain measuring basket. For a similar example see no. 107, p. 98 in Auth, Ancient Glass at the Newark Museum.
