JULIO-CLAUDIAN, CIRCA EARLY-MID 1ST CENTURY A.D.
Depicted with his voluminous toga pulled up over the back of his head as a veil and draping over his short-sleeved tunic, standing with his right leg slightly advanced, his head turned sharply to his right, his gaze following his extended right arm, his left hand emerging from the overfold of his toga, holding forth a scroll, perhaps containing a ritual formula to pronounce at ceremony, his hair a mass of Julio-Claudian-style comma-shaped locks surrounding his triangular face with prominent ears and pointed chin
