AN EAST GREEK GOLD AND CARNELIAN SCARAB FINGER RING
ARCHAIC PERIOD, CIRCA LATE 6TH CENTURY B.C.
The plain hoop oval in section with conical terminals, joined to the scarab by a plain wire threaded through the perforations of the stone and the terminals and coiled spirally along the hoop, the scarab carefully detailed, the underside engraved with the head of a roaring lion, his open mouth revealing fangs and a lolling tongue, a forepaw extending forward, enclosed within a hatched border
