The flat, nearly round stone with a white layer on translucent yellow, deeply engraved with a facing head of the gorgon Medusa, her tongue protruding from her mouth, the upper row of teeth visible, her curly hair a series of graduated drillings framing the face, a pair of snakes knotted below her chin; mounted as a ring in a modern gold setting
