EINSTEIN'S REACTION TO NEWS OF HIS YOUNGER SON'S NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, AND TO THE NAZI ACCESSION TO POWER IN GERMANY. Mileva's letter with the news 'shook me deeply'; if he had realised the extent of the danger, he would have come directly to Zurich; as it is, he is tied down with lectures in Brussels for ten days, and is supposed to go directly to Oxford, but will make time for a trip to Zurich. 'Tell dear Tetel [Eduard] that he is very much on my mind, in spite of the fact that I am constantly terribly overburdened and harassed, through worries about others, and through my agitation about the shameful events [in Germany]. I will never again set foot on German soil'. If Mileva needs him, he would stay with her, as long as she promises that none of Hans Albert's in-laws are there.
