With gilt-finished fully jewelled two-train lever movement separately wound by turning the crown to either side, minute repeating and alarm each with two polished steel hammers onto two gongs, gold cuvette with engraved inscription Calibré par L. Gironde pour Mr. R. Sauze, No. 45585, Recuerdo de gratitud a mi querido hermano Luis. A Sauze 26-11-98, the white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, blued steel spade hands, subsidiary date dial, two windows for day and month, in circular case with engraved initials to the reverse, bezel-set alarm, repeating slide in the band, cuvette signed

Tardy's Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français lists L. Gironde at Rue Vivienne in Paris, active between 1900-1935.

The present watch with its rare and unusual combination of a minute repeating mechanism, perpetual calendar and alarm was most probably made by special order.
