Lot Essay

This watch is accompanied by its original Certificate of Origin, Envelope and Patek Philippe presentation box.

Patek Philippe began production of the Reference 3448 with the 27-460 Q Calibre movement in 1962. Only 586 examples were made.

This watch is exceptionally rare and is only the third known watch with gilt dial to come for auction and the first with luminescent indexes and hands.

A similar watch also with gilt dial was sold in Christie's Geneva, Exceptional Patek Philippe Wristwatches from an Important Private Collection, lot 18, 13 November 2001.
