Mark of Leendert Beekhuysen, Amsterdam, 1748, also struck with later Dutch duty mark
Oblong, all sides engraved with scenes after the rebellion which took place in Amsterdam in 1748, the hinged cover with a scene of the riots at the Dam square during the public execution of the two men believed to be instigators of the rebellion, the front with a fatal shooting flanked by two medallions with inscriptions: Beroerte binne Amsterdam Van Den 24 and Tot den 28 Juny des Jaars 1748, the back with the shooting of a man, the rest of the sides engraved with scrolling foliage, the base engraved with the plundering of houses at one of the canals, the rim with initials G*D*D, marked inside and on rim
