Pupil of the Appplied Arts School of Paris, Jean Derval, together with the ceramist Roger Capron, move to Vallauris, in the South of France, in 1946. He works on Picasso ceramics' editions by Madoura and set up his own studio in 1951. Over the course of his carreer he is awarded a number of prizes for his artistic creations, realised sometimes in collaboration with Roger Capron

Après avoir participé aux éditions des céramiques de Picasso par Madoura, Jean Derval inaugure son propre atelier en 1951. Il reçoit de nombreux prix pour ses créations, parfois réalisées en collaboration avec Capron
