A student of Wetzel, Corrodi travelled extensively and spent a lot of time in Italy, especially Rome where he became friendly with Thorwaldsen and Catel. He became the protegé for Emperor Nicolas of Russia, and gained favour from the Grand Duke of Tuscany and other nobles of Milan. He became a teacher and member of the Musée des Beaux Arts. The Museum of Vienna houses one of his pieces.
