Lot Essay

Cf. G.A. Godden, The Illustrated Guide to Lowestoft Porcelain (London, 1969), pl. 207, for a similar example with the inscription 'A Trifle from Lowestoft', perhaps painted by the same hand. There is an octagonal inkpot dated 1798 in the British Museum.
