Lot Essay

A similar plate in the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, is illustrated by Tamara Preaud and Antoine d'Albis, La Porcelaine de Vincennes (Paris 1991), fig, 226, where they point out that examples of this model are extremely rare. Thirteen plates of this type are recorded in the biscuit kiln firing of 14th September 1753 (possibly including the present examples).

François Binet painted flowers at Vincennes and Sèvres from 1750 to 1775.
